Statewide Tank Delivery

Plan Your Tank Delivery

Clear delivery options, access requirements and site-preparation advice to help your tank arrive safely and without unnecessary delays.

Plan Before Delivery Day

Three Steps to a Smooth Tank Delivery

Large water tanks require suitable truck access, a safe unloading area and preparation before our delivery vehicle arrives.

Plan the Tank Location

Confirm the tank will fit, select a suitable position and consider the base, downpipes, pump position, overflow direction and future access.

Choose Your Delivery Option

Select Standard Delivery or, for eligible round tanks and suitable sites, Position on Pad with customer assistance.

Prepare the Site

Complete the tank base, clear the access route and unloading area, open gates and arrange any required helpers or equipment.

!

Your Delivery Option Must Be Agreed Before Delivery Day

If access, the tank pad, the unloading area or customer assistance does not meet the agreed requirements, the tank may need to be unloaded at the nearest safe and accessible location.

Before Placing Your Order

Check the Tank, Access and Unloading Area

Checking these details early helps prevent delays, failed deliveries and unexpected costs.

1. Will the Tank Fit?

Check the entire journey from the property entrance to the intended tank location.

  • Tank diameter, width, length and total height
  • Gateways, fences and access beside buildings
  • Overhead trees, powerlines and eaves
  • Space for plumbing and future maintenance
  • Inlet, outlet and overflow orientation
  • Available fall between the gutter and tank inlet

2. Can Our Truck Access the Site?

Our delivery vehicles are large commercial vehicles intended for formed roads and suitable driveways.

  • Firm and stable vehicle access
  • Adequate width and overhead clearance
  • Safe turning and reversing room
  • No unsafe slopes or side angles
  • No soft paddocks or unformed tracks
  • Suitable access in expected weather conditions

3. Is the Unloading Area Ready?

Provide a clear, firm and reasonably level area where the tank can be safely unloaded.

  • Approximately 5 m × 5 m clear area
  • Accessible by the delivery vehicle
  • Clear of vehicles and building materials
  • Away from powerlines and overhead hazards
  • Firm enough for safe unloading
  • Close to the pad for Position on Pad delivery

Tank Delivery Options

The delivery method depends on your tank type, site access, preparation and whether suitable customer assistance is available.

Option 1

Standard Delivery

Roll off or lift off at a safe and accessible location

Standard Delivery is our simplest and most common delivery method. Your tank is unloaded at the nearest location the driver considers safe and accessible for the delivery vehicle.

Tankworld Will

  • Transport the tank to the agreed delivery address
  • Assess the access and unloading area on arrival
  • Unload the tank using the appropriate method for the product
  • Leave the tank at a safe and accessible unloading point

The Customer Must

  • Provide safe truck access and a clear unloading area
  • Open gates and remove vehicles and other obstructions
  • Arrange any later movement to the final tank location
  • Secure the empty tank if it is not immediately installed
  • Arrange any machinery, tradespeople or assistance needed after unloading

Standard Delivery Does Not Include

  • Moving the tank from the unloading point to its final pad
  • Crane, excavator, telehandler or machinery work
  • Excavation, tank-base preparation or plumbing
  • Removing fences, gates or other obstructions
  • Lifting the tank over buildings, walls or structures

Best suited to: Customers who have machinery, tradespeople or other assistance arranged to complete the final positioning after delivery.

Position on Pad Must Be Ready Before the Truck Arrives

If the tank base, access route, unloading area or required helpers are not ready, the delivery will revert to Standard Delivery and the tank will be unloaded at the nearest safe and accessible location.

Delivery Vehicle Requirements

Allow Enough Space for Our Truck

Tank delivery vehicles are long, high and carry significant weight. Your site must provide suitable access, turning room and a safe unloading area.

  • Access must be firm, stable and suitable for a heavy commercial vehicle
  • Low branches, powerlines and other overhead hazards must be cleared
  • Our trucks will not travel across soft paddocks, recently filled areas or unsafe tracks
  • Suitable turning, reversing and unloading space must be available
  • Access must remain suitable in the weather conditions on delivery day
  • The driver makes the final decision about safe access and unloading

A truck-only delivery without the trailer may sometimes be available for restricted sites. This must be discussed and approved before the delivery is scheduled.

Prepare Before We Arrive

Preparing the Tank Base

The tank base must be fully completed before delivery when Position on Pad has been arranged.

Prepared compacted base suitable for a water tank
The completed base should be flat, level, compacted, retained and larger than the tank footprint.

Suitable Base Requirements

The base must provide full and even support beneath the entire tank floor.

  • Flat, smooth and level across the full tank footprint
  • Fully supports the entire floor of the tank
  • Free from sharp rocks, debris and foreign objects
  • Adequately compacted to prevent movement or settling
  • Retained to help prevent erosion and material washing away
  • Generally at least 300 mm wider than the tank on every side
  • Fully completed before the delivery vehicle arrives

Suitable base options may include:

  • 75–100 mm of compacted crusher dust or FCR
  • A suitably designed, smooth and level concrete slab
  • A structurally suitable purpose-built tank stand
  • Compacted fine road base without large or sharp stone

Large or sharp stones should not be placed directly beneath the tank because they may damage the tank floor.

A Full Tank Is Extremely Heavy

The completed base must safely support the tank and its full water load without movement, settling, erosion or undermining.

1,000 L Approximately 1,000 kilograms of water
10,000 L More than 10 tonnes of water when full

The customer is responsible for ensuring the base, tank stand and installation are suitable for the selected tank, property and ground conditions.

Final Preparation

On Delivery Day

Complete these checks before the truck arrives so the driver can access the property and unload safely and efficiently.

Open gates and move vehicles away from the access route.
Remove building materials and other obstructions.
Keep children and pets away from the unloading area.
Ensure the tank base and access route are fully completed.
Have all agreed customer helpers present and ready.
Confirm the required inlet, outlet and overflow direction.
Tell us immediately if access or site conditions have changed.
Have an authorised person available to make delivery decisions.

Delivery arrival times may change due to weather, traffic, road conditions and delays at earlier deliveries. Please allow flexibility when coordinating plumbers, machinery operators or other contractors.

Important Information

Safety, Access and Delivery Limitations

Select each heading below for more information about customer responsibilities and what is included in delivery.

The Driver Makes the Final Access Decision

The driver may refuse to enter or continue through any area they consider unsafe for the delivery vehicle, tank, customer, driver or surrounding property.

This may include:

  • Soft, wet, recently filled or unstable ground
  • Inadequate turning or reversing space
  • Low trees, powerlines or overhead structures
  • Excessive slopes or unsafe side angles
  • Unsafe bridges, culverts, driveways or crossings
  • A risk of damage to the truck, tank or property
  • People entering the unloading or tank-handling area

If the planned location cannot be safely reached, the tank may be unloaded at the nearest safe and accessible location.

Delivery Is Not Tank Installation

Tankworld delivery covers transportation and unloading under the selected and agreed delivery option.

Unless separately agreed in writing, delivery does not include:

  • Site inspection, engineering or certification
  • Planning, council or regulatory approval
  • Excavation, trenching or tank-base construction
  • Plumbing, stormwater or downpipe connections
  • Pump installation or electrical work
  • Anchoring or restraining the tank
  • Crane, excavator, telehandler or machinery hire
  • Removal or relocation of an existing tank
Slimline and Septic Tank Delivery

Slimline and septic tanks are lifted off rather than rolled. Because of their shape and handling requirements, they are not positioned using the same manual rolling process as eligible round poly tanks.

The customer must arrange any required lifting equipment, machinery or contractor assistance to move these products beyond the accessible unloading location unless another arrangement has been confirmed in writing.

Restricted or Difficult Access

Contact Tankworld before ordering if your property has:

  • A narrow, steep or winding driveway
  • Limited turning or reversing space
  • Low trees, eaves or overhead powerlines
  • Soft, unsealed or weather-affected access
  • Retaining walls, fences or buildings near the unloading area
  • A tank pad located a significant distance from the driveway

A truck-only delivery without the trailer may sometimes be available for restricted sites, but this must be discussed and approved before delivery is scheduled.

Photos or a short video showing the property entrance, driveway, turning area, unloading point and tank pad may help our team understand the proposed site.

Any assessment provided before delivery is preliminary. Final access and unloading approval remains with the driver on delivery day.

Failed or Altered Deliveries

A return delivery, additional handling or alternative equipment may incur further charges where delivery cannot be completed as arranged because:

  • Access is unsuitable or differs from the information supplied
  • The unloading area or tank base is incomplete
  • The agreed customer assistance is unavailable
  • The site or weather conditions are unsafe
  • The tank cannot fit through the intended access route
  • The driver cannot safely unload at the requested location
Securing the Tank After Delivery

Empty poly tanks are lightweight and can move or overturn in strong winds.

If the tank is not being installed and filled immediately, the customer must arrange for it to be safely secured after unloading. Do not place objects inside the tank or use unsuitable restraints that may damage the tank.
